What Is a Serial Screen? The 2022 Definition

A serial screen is a display module with an integrated controller that communicates with a host board over a serial interface. The host sends commands such as "set variable" or "switch page", and the module handles drawing, fonts, images and touch detection.

Compared with a bare LCD panel, a serial screen removes most of the graphics work from the host firmware, which shortens development time for instrument makers.
