This section summarizes frequent hardware questions about Hywintek serial screens: serial port not listed in the tool (desktop DB9 vs laptop USB-to-TTL/RS232/RS485 adapters, HEX send must be checked); wrong wiring for RS232/TTL/RS485 (cross T/R lines, common GND, RS485 A-to-A and B-to-B); garbled data (check baud rate, signal level and adapter chip); high baud-rate error (insufficient bypass capacitance on MAX232 distorts the waveform, four 105 capacitors recommended); 3.3V/5V level mismatch (series 330-470 ohm resistor, high-speed diode or transistor switch); damaged MAX3232/MAX232 chip (verify with oscilloscope); TTL screen not communicating with the control board (5-10K pull-up resistor plus a small filter capacitor, check supply voltage).
