This section lists hardware causes of black screens: loose FPC connectors and oxidized sockets (check the serial cable, PCB yellow cable and socket); insufficient power supply (measure voltage and current with a multimeter); wrong 10-pin cable orientation (blue ends one up one down; after a socket change the crossed cable must be replaced with a same-side FPC); over-voltage burning the protection diode (measure with the diode range; a short over-voltage causes a black screen but does not damage the LCD module itself; replace the diode and avoid further over-voltage, otherwise return for repair); USB power from a PC insufficient (some screens need 500-700 mA; test with a 1-2 A charger or add an external supply).
